District Regional Transport Authority (DRTA)

Major functions of the authority are stated as below:

• Provision of decent public transport service within the district
• Grant/renew  Route Permits
• Issue  Fitness Certificate  to vehicles
• Grant of licenses for bus stands of A, B, C and D categories and their regulation
• Issue licences for establishment of Body Building Workshops
• Regulate and enforce public transport fares
• Implement policies/initiatives of the government
• Summary trial of challans / prosecutions launched by MMPI/TSI and Traffic Police under MVO-1965/MVR-1969
• Route alignment for High Occupancy Vehicles (HOV)
• Recovery of route permit and fitness certificate fee
• Act as Tribunal for compensation of death/injury cases in road accidents
• Arrange transport in case of emergency where mass evacuation / transportation of goods is required
• Secretary DRTA exercises executive authority of DRTA ,arrange meetings and implements decisions of DRTA
